What did I paint in 2025
- A brigades worth of 6mm Napoleonic French. About 12 bases of infantry and 6 of cav
- ~15 Battletech Mechs
- A Vampire Counts Army of ~70 miniatures
- A few more Warhammer Dwarfs, ~20 miniatures
- Added around 30-40 infantry and 12 Late Roman Cavalry and three command bases. A similar number of Goths/early Saxons
- ~100 6mm Sci Fi infantry and vehicles ostensibly for Laserstorm. I painted them all over a weekend or two using contrast paints.
- Around 20 ships for Russo Japanese war. I have about 12 more to paint.
- Around 25 French and Russian 28mm Napoleonics for The Silver Bayonet
- 50+ 15mm Carthaginian and Greeks – ongoing.
- A lot of 6mm Great Northern War at the start of the year but I cannot remember what was in 2024 and 2025.
- 10 silly space goblins from Alternative Armies in 28mm.
- A handful of monsters for Frostgrave, giant spiders, bears etc.
- Dwarf and Orc Armies in 10mm for Warmaster / Midguard. ~500 figures.
I doubt I will paint as much in 2026 as 2025
Goals for the year
- Paint all the 6mm Great Northern War. I have ordered a stack load more figures to complete the Russian and Swede armies and add the Polish-Lithuanian and Saxon armies.
- Finish my 15mm Carthaginian and Greek project. This is closer to done and I am not sure if I will buy much more. I think I have 15mm for big battles. It takes more effort than I Iike for worse aesthetic results than 6 and 10mm. Anyhow I will get enough done for some ~40-50 base armies.
- Paint 2 more Warcry Warbands. I consistently enjoy this game so it makes sense to have a couple more warbands, and painting the later GW figures is a joy.
- Add more cavalry to the Late Romans and Goths.
- More Battletech.
- Perhaps continue with 6mm Napoleonics but that might be pushed into 2027.
Further ahead – speculative projects
- 6mm WW2. Probably each base representing at least platoons, probably companies for a divisional command. Likely either east front or Greek campaigns, maybe western desert early on.
- 6mm Imperial Roman vs Parthians or early Goths. Im thinking 1st-3rd century. If I do start this I may sell the 15mm ancients I already have.
- I have ordered a medieval skirmish rule set Ecorcheurs. I have not decided what scale to go with, probably won’t be 28mm due to storage requirements. Might for 15mm, might try a small as 10mm. The key thing is terrain. In my view skirmish games are more about quality terrain and I don't want to store a lot of it.
